How to tell your story, your way

When you think about your story, what core moments stick out? The best way to effectively keep those moments preserved is to set the scene. Where were you? Who was there? What emotions or smells do you remember? Immerse yourself back into that memory and when you are ready to share it, make sure you take us there with you.

As you probably know, many of us tend to end up with different variations or recollections of past events. Think about it like this. During the Pandemic what stood out to you? Your answer or beliefs are probably different than someone else.

Creating your own legacy video, gives you the outlet to tell your story, your own way. Preserving your history, your memories and lessons to give to your loved ones.

Not only is it a special glimpse for your family to see, it's a great reminder of those moments that over time tend to naturally fade in our brains.

When curating legacy video questions, many struggle with what to talk about. Of course you can go through your history. Where you were born, your family life, growing up, getting into a career and meeting the love of your life. But where it gets fun is getting into those moments you may of been embarrassed about and now laugh at today. Those times where through your struggles and challenges you rose higher.

When interviewing someone I always try to determine what makes that person unique. Every single one of us on this planet has something unique to offer the world. What makes you different? Being your most authentic self and taking us inside those moments makes legacy videos fun.

I'll never forget when I did my first legacy interview for my grandma on one Thanksgiving. She was a few glasses of wine in and was excited to share her thoughts and memories. I remember asking her about her first kiss. Her answer was exactly the spitfire energy that I would have expected. She lived life fully each day and could care less about what others thought. She just did what she wanted. When sharing your story, do it your own way.

I will be offering more tips on this and the art of an interview in another blog post. For now I will leave you with a few cosmetic tips. When filming, do not wear patterns or any clothing that might distract from us listening to your story. Remember great lighting can help you look your best. Make sure to have a fresh face and an outfit that you feel the most confident in. My final note to leave you on, tell the stories that not only offer wisdom but show that life in it's own messy way is beautiful. Infinite love to you all
